Test Lab – Why not try it first?
A new water treatment system, a new air purification setup, a soil remediation project… always exciting. Will it all work? What will it cost exactly? Will the required results (permit conditions) be achieved? How much chemicals will be consumed? How much waste (such as sludge) will be produced? And could it be done even better?
Of course, you’ll get answers to all those questions if you apply the solution at full scale, but by then you've already invested a lot of time and money. You want certainty beforehand. That’s why HMVT has established its test lab in Ede. This lab is located right next to our workshop, so we have everything immediately on hand (pumps, filters, …). Here, we can try everything out on a small scale first. Think of:
- Feasibility tests and determination of NOD (natural oxidant demand) for chemical oxidation;
- Testing of various water purification techniques (including ozone and UV/peroxide);
- Testing of precipitation processes for substances such as heavy metals;
- Determining the buffer capacity of water, soil, or any other material;
- Biodegradation tests;
- Adsorption tests with, for example, activated carbon (for water or air);
- Coagulation/flocculation tests;
- Tests with various ion exchangers;
- Testing of different air purification methods (we have our own FID device);
The results from the tests are then used to design a cost-effective full-scale solution.
Preliminary testing in the lab or with a pilot on-site offers you the following advantages:
- You can try out a new purification technique at limited cost;
- Various techniques can be tested side by side, allowing you to make a better (design) choice;
- You’ll have a better understanding of what to expect from the full-scale solution: you’ll gain advance insight into costs, energy consumption, waste streams, treatment efficiency, chemical and carbon consumption;
- Any potential issues in the process are identified in advance, so they can be addressed directly in the design of the full-scale solution. You avoid unpleasant surprises later.
You’ll receive – in advance – a clear understanding of the efficiency and costs of the techniques; this is highly beneficial when applying for permits and negotiating their conditions.

Lab tests ISCO (In-situ chemical oxidation)
HMVT performs laboratory tests in preparation for the design and implementation of in-situ chemical oxidation.
After performing this lab test, you will know the following:
- Is chemical oxidation applicable to my site?
- How much chemical do I need? This is necessary to calculate the cost of soil remediation at your site using in-situ chemical oxidation.
- What final result (concentrations) can I expect approximately?
We offer these lab tests online for the following oxidants:
- ISCO lab test with Fenton’s reagent. This strong oxidant is suitable for treating BTEX, PAHs, pesticides, VOCl, mineral oil, and many other organic compounds.
- ISCO lab test with persulfate. This strong oxidant is suitable for treating BTEX, PAHs, pesticides, VOCl, mineral oil, and many other organic compounds.
- ISCO lab test with permanganate. This moderately strong oxidant is suitable for treating VOCl contamination.
